notice the latches on these “boxed” headers. these latches serve a dual purpose: this longer style will reach around and grab and click onto the plastic strain relief on the mating connector, locking things together. the other use is when removing, the latches serve as little pry bars to gently dislodge the mating connector, so you don’t tug on the ribbon cable and break it.
