one of a few common solders… a leaded 63/37 alloy often referred to “eutectic” where the solder shifts from liquid phase to solid real fast. the 60/40 alloy is just a little higher melt point and a little transition period from liquid to solid. both are fine for electronics use but what about flux ? the RA or rosin activated is a traditional flux, more aggressive in preparing the metal for the solder to stick. but then this flux leaves more residue needing a stronger remover to clean. the “no-clean” flux is milder and less residue, a little more popular with denser SMT boards… my thinking is RA for big parts with lots of copper surface area, No-Clean for tiny parts packed close together…review a few choices and the type of projects, then decide…
